SIZE: 2 - 3 mm

LIFECYCLE: approx. 100 days at 18°C; at low temperatures the cycle can take a year.

FEATURES: round indentations in the thorax, rostrum-shaped mouthparts. Reddish-brown in colour Equipped with a 2nd pair of wings, which allows it to move from warehouses to cereals in open fields, and vice versa.

HABITAT: rice storage sites.

DIET/DAMAGE: primarily infests rice. In addition to this direct damage, the effects are compounded by the arrival of secondary pests, as well as moulds.
