SPECIES: Anobium punctatum ( order Coleoptera )

COMMON NAME: Furniture woodworm

SIZE: length from 3 - 5 mm

Eggs laid: from 20 to 60 eggs.

Egg incubation: 15 - 60 days depending on temperature.

Larval period: 2 - 3 years.

Adult lifespan: 15 - 30 days.

Adults emerge: from June to August

Wood attacked: hard and soft woods (both conifers and deciduous)

Materials: wooden structures, beams, flooring, skirting boards, furniture, wicker products, and recently produced plywood.

Larval burrows: meandering, without changes due to moulds.

Frass: rare, granular, with lemon-shaped balls.

Exit holes: numerous, circular in shape, with a diameter of 1 - 1.5 mm.
