SPECIES: MUS MUSCULUS (order Rodentia; family Muridae)

COMMON NAME: House mouse

SIZE: Body 6-9 cm; tail 6-10 cm, longer than the head and body combined.

WEIGHT: 15 gr

LIFECYCLE: characterised by a very high reproductive potential, 7-8 small litters, with 30-35 young per year. Gestation lasts from 21-23 days and sexual maturity is reached after 45-50 days.

HABITAT: lives alone, nests mainly indoors.

DIET: Omnivorous, with a preference for cereals. Consumes 2-3 grams per day, in over 10 meals. Any type of human food residue.

DAMAGE: Tto foodstuffs and materials of all kinds.
